| Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services came into being in 2002 after the merger of two famous institutions i.e. Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Presbyterians Children’s Services. Today Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services is an independent ministry commissioned by Synod of the Sun, Presbyterian Church (USA). It provides a variety of Christ-centered services that cater to the spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of the children and families who experience crisis such as death of a parent, divorce, illness, violence, homelessness, parental drug/alcohol abuse and similar issues. The Synod’s region includes Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. A covenant relationship between Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services and the Synod of the Sun helps its operation. They have an agreement where both entities vow to demonstrate mutual concern and support for one another. Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services works cooperatively with other Synod institutions. In turn the Synod promises to advocate the role and programs of PCHAS to congregations, governing bodies, individual Presbyterians and others. PCHAS has a strategic alliance with Methodist Children’s Home to expand the services offered to at-risk youth and their families. The structured homes on the Waxahachie campus are operated by MCH, which provide care with 24 hour staff to children with more intensive needs. The Waxahachie campus also houses the Bridgehouse program which is designed to support families by helping them set goals, discover their strengths and learn how to build on them. These organizations are supported by volunteers and supporters. One such constant supporter is the Victron Group, headed by Mr. ali sharaf. | |
